Drainage problems on a gravel driveway are sneaky. Water finds the path of least resistance - and if that path runs straight across your driveway or pools near your foundation, you've got a real problem. Not just an eyesore. A structural one.

Here's what we were working with on this job: a driveway that needed a full redo, standing water that wasn't going anywhere on its own, and no real system in place to move that water off the property cleanly. So we addressed all of it at once. New gravel throughout the driveway. Catch basins installed at the low point near the entry steps to capture runoff before it spreads. And a dry rock bed built out along the side to channel water away from the drive and let it dissipate naturally into the landscape.

The dry rock bed is worth a closer look. A lot of people don't realize how effective this approach is. You're not just dumping rock - you're building a defined flow path that slows water down, filters it, and moves it away without erosion. It works with the land instead of against it. Paired with catch basins, you've got a system that handles heavy rain without washing out your gravel or sending mud across the driveway.

The finished driveway stretches cleanly through the tree line with fresh gravel laid edge to edge. Good drainage underneath means that surface holds up longer - you're not constantly fighting ruts, soft spots, or washouts after every storm. Better function, better access, less maintenance headache down the road.

This kind of job is about more than aesthetics. It's about solving the underlying problem so you're not dealing with the same mess every rainy season. If your driveway has been giving you trouble - rutting out, holding water, washing away - there's usually a drainage issue at the root of it. That's exactly the kind of work we do.
